(14,742 posts)That the food wasn't that good, the service was terrible, and the wait staff wasn't particularly hot.
Plenty of restaurants survive on good food and great service, and don't have to stuff their staff into tight clothing.....
I like boobs. But really, never saw much of an appeal to hooters.

(970 posts)My observation is that the younger generations in question are just "over" the blatant sexual exploitation.
I'm not gong to say that having a woman's' breasts stuffed in my face is bad, I'm a straight guy after all, but I'd rather it be enthusiastically consensual in an intimate environment. Not being treated as a commodity to manipulate someone into spending money.
It's an almost mercenary situation that seems pretty gross on reflection, if you want to analyze it.
Maybe we're maturing past that sort of stuff???

(15,381 posts)I went there with co-workers from my first corporate job, and we mainly went for one waitress (I actually had a thing for her). She knew how to work the room, was very funny, and would sometimes sing karaoke - sounding exactly like Janis Joplin. My co-workers and I became "friends" with her, and we were always kept abreast (yes, easy pun) of her plans. She was going back to school to get a physical therapy degree, and she said that Hooters was the best paying easy job that made her a lot of money that wasn't stripping. Then one day she was gone, and the other girls told us she had graduated and started on her career. We stopped going there after that. Good for you, Snoopy.

(43,340 posts)on the changing consumer habits of the Millennial generation and their allegedly negative impact on major industries and economic sectors that had once thrived during the latter half of the 20th century.
https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/millennials-are-killing
Origin
A "Millennials are Killing X" trend piece generally involves a writer from the Boomer generation noting that millennials' financial situation (high student loans, lack of available, well-paying jobs) have made millennials unwilling or unable to spend as freely as their ancestors, and that this phenomenon is hurting either a specific industry or the American economy as a whole. Backlash to the trend began in 2013, notably with the response to Time Magazine's infamous Me Me Me Generation cover. Gothamist and The New York Times published articles compiling and criticizing Boomer pieces criticizing Millennials the same year.
Spread
Over the next three years, the phrase "Millenials are killing" began appearing more often in headlines, as Millennials were blamed for killing McDonald's, the movie business, Home Depot, the napkin industry, etc. The trend spiked in popularity on June 30th, 2016, when The Economist published a tweet asking "Why aren't millennials buying diamonds?" The tweet received intense derision as users mocked the transparent trendiness of the tweet and the ignorance of the question's obvious answer: millennials don't have very much money.
The trend continued to spike throughout the summer of 2016. On August 24th, Fusion published an article linking to 47 different articles, each one accusing millennials of killing a different industry or tradition. Two days later, Twitter user @necrosofty tweeted an image showing several different headlines with the phrase "Millennials are killing" in it. The tweet, shown below, has over 2,400 retweets and 2,600 likes as of August 29th, 2016.
On August 27th, The Daily Dot published an article claiming the "Millennials are Killing" backlash had reached its peak.

(15,210 posts)It's just so tacky and cringe-worthy.
There are plenty of boobs to be seen all over the world without the leering weirdness of a breast-themed restaurant.

(621 posts)So, it's not a dislike of boobs. I've been to a hooters once in my life and the food wasn't anything special. I was also with a coworker who made uncomfortable and crass comments constantly. It was weird because it almost seemed forced and unnatural. It was as if he thought was how he was supposed to behave to "fit in with the guys". It had the exact opposite effect with us, though.
This wasn't the most "PC" or "woke" (yes, I dislike that term too) crowd either. I just don't think blatant objectification of women is as cool as it once was. Also, like I said above, the food was nothing special.
