(3,775 posts)Were there two Chinese passengers? Two hundred? That would be pertinent information, I think, but the article doesn't say.

(27,771 posts)I read the very short article and it didn't say what Italy did with the passengers who tested positive. Did they refuse them admission to Italy and send them back to China, or did they quarantine them in Italy for a week? Hopefully they didn't admit them and let them infect everyone in Italy. Of course, they probably infected the other half of the passengers who will come down with the virus after they disembarked and will infect many. Terrible journalism. Only half the story.
About 38 percent of passengers on one flight into Milans Malpensa Airport tested positive for COVID-19, as did about 52 percent of those on a second flight, according to local officials in Italys Lombardy region.
Italy will begin testing all new arrivals from China and sequencing the tests for new variants amid Chinas surge in COVID-19 cases, Italys health minister said on Wednesday.
The measure is essential to ensure surveillance and detection of possible variants of the virus in order to protect the Italian population, Italian Health Minister Orazio Schillaci said.
Several other countries, including Japan, India, South Korea, Taiwan and Malaysia, have already instituted similar requirements, with U.S. officials considering following suit, according to CBS News.
