His prognosis is good, I am happy to hear.
As soon as he is treated and fine, I hope he will consider the idea of running after Biden's second term. He has distinguished himself, and Trump is sinking in a pit of his own venom and corruption.
The republicans will have to go into the wilderness and consider what has become of their party.

BUT I'm sure as heck not betting on such happening. Maybe a woman first?

(141,926 posts)after the recent insane repug 'kerfuffle,' I've dropped the thought. (NOT someone most here would like, but was my suspicion, not my preferred, a couple years ago.)

(19,900 posts)Hes never ran for or held statewide office, almost disqualifying for a presidential candidate in my book.
He could make a run for Senate in 24 if Cardin doesnt run, but it would probably be a crowded primary.
I just dont see it.

(2,499 posts)Id be thrilled with Jamie Raskin, Adam Schiff, or Josh Shapiro as President - not because theyre Jewish (which is immaterial), but because they are supremely intelligent, honorable, competent people.

The US needs to be the leader of hope, technology, environment.
Popularity contests are way too damn early.
I am awfully tired of people fantasies of elections in 2024, 2028. 2022 is not over and Trump, Putin, Etc are still here. Get back to work.

(41,631 posts)Another possible candidate - not for 2024 but possible in 2028 - would be Josh Shapiro, our newly elected Governor of Pennsylvania. I'm looking for great things from him in the coming years.
Congressman Raskin has my undying gratitude for the excellent job he did on Chump's 2nd impeachment trial, as well as his awesome work on the J-6 Committee!

(7,366 posts)This includes women of all backgrounds, ethnicities, all women.
I note that that Democratic Party voters are majority women now and that women have not yet reached parity in the Democratic. Party as office holders.
We do at last have a female vp for the first time in history. We do have some very strong female office holders, such as Whitmer,so we seem to be moving slowly but surely on a path toward representation in accordance with our population. Reaching parity for Women in office, and making it likely that those women will be Democratic is going to depend on male votes as well as female.
This seems to me to be the time to begin hearing from male Democrats on which female Democrats they feel they can enthusiastically support.
Most of the posts I have seen on DU where posters propose presidential candidates, from Avenetti up to present seem to focus on males. Perhaps this is not surprising since all our images of presidents are men.
I am seeing signs however that if we are to continue democracy and expand it into the near future we need to expand our leadership potential, and so I ask those proposing potential presidential candidates whether they have some women to consider.

(56,108 posts)While I understand your concern, I found your comment disrespectful and dismissive. Had you started a thread about a potential female presidential candidate and I came into your thread and asked "Any Jews you might be willing to propose for presidency? nt" it would be disrespectful unless I proposed a female Jew.. I am sure you are aware there has NEVER been a president who wasn't CHRISTIAN. There has NEVER been a vice-president who has been anything other than CHRISTIAN.
So, while I certainly agree a female president is long overdue, and women certainly are important to the democratic party, so are others! Including Jews.
ETA: And since you said: "This includes women of all backgrounds, ethnicities, all women." Any JEWISH women you might willing to propose for the presidency?

(93,615 posts)in terms of state strategy Shapiro/Ossoff would be a good ticket. But there is too much anti semitism so not sure a ticket with both candidates being Jewish will happen with how things are right now.
