(20,450 posts)They are required to disclose certain information with legal consequences if they dont. There are plenty of laws requiring the disclosure of information in various contexts.

(34,031 posts)The House Qualifications Clause set forth at Article I, Section 2, Clause 2 requires a Member to be at least twenty-five years of age, a United States citizen for seven years, and an inhabitant of the state from which he or she is elected at the time of election.

(20,450 posts)Members of Congress are already required to disclose a bunch of financial info. See https://disclosures-clerk.house.gov/PublicDisclosure/FinancialDisclosure.
This law would simply add other information that needs to be disclosed.

Good public policy cannot be obtained from lies.
The founders assumed a degree of integrity that only exists in one party any longer. Opposition has been taken to extreme lengths.
The may not like losing but THE ENTIRE government is responsible for doing the best job possible for EVERYONE. not everyone will agreed what that is and negotiating is required. Scorched earth negotiations are either hostage taking or bad-faith in some other way.
