How many here thought musky founded Tesla, raise your hand? me too. apparently not...

as we all know, he's a slimy piece of shit man-child, but his massive misplaced ego goes back a ways...

Tesla CEO Settles for “Founder” Title

https://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/tesla-ceo-settles-for-founder-title/2088887/

At issue: Whether Martin Eberhard, the company's first CEO, or Elon Musk, its current one, got to call himself "founder." Eberhard filed suit against Musk three months ago, alleging libel and slander because Musk, an early investor in Tesla, had started calling himself the company's founder.

It seemed like a silly thing to fight about, given that the company, which makes a $109,000 sports car and has promised to start developing a $60,000 sedan once it finishes a design, locates a factory, and secures parts, nearly ran out of money last fall and now appears to subsist on cash infusions from investors like Daimler and U.S. government-backed loans. (Tesla claims it achieved "corporate profitability" in July, which insiders dispute.)

In fact, Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning are the company's actual founders. But through the settlement, Musk and two other Tesla executives get to call themselves founders, too.

It's not the first time Musk has fussed about being called "founder." He started a company, X.com, which merged with another startup, Confinity. Confinity's main product was PayPal, and that became the name of the new company. In leaving PayPal, Musk went to great lengths to make sure he'd be referred to as "founder."

And FWIW, I remember DU being all amazed and impressed by the Tesla Roadster back in the late oughts (as you probably do as well). This board just LOVED that car. Except for the price, of course.

Musk set of my creep-o-meter the first time I heard of him.

I any case, electric cars and powerwalls are just another flavor of climate change denial. They won't save the world. This planet cannot support an automobile or a powerwall for every human, all eight billion of us.

it wouldn't have survived without his infusion of cash six months after the company was first incorporated.

Not at all a fan, but Tesla wouldn't exist without Musk.

... and probably my own reactivity against those who believe electric cars will save the world.

The people with the smallest environmental footprints generally live in cities and don't own cars. We need to restructure our cities to make car-free living an attractive and affordable lifestyle.

What powers cars isn't nearly so important as reducing the total number of cars on the road.

he just used the money from his family fortune to move the ball forward.

if say someone else did this, would he or she been equally as praised?

probably not.

musky is a shameless narcissistic self promoter (powered by a spin machine) who takes credit from the people who rightly deserve it and call it his own. Moreover, not only does he call it his own, he uses that same spin machine to make people believe he also created/invented it.

track record, it’s just a matter of time that it will come out that he bought that too.

At the end of the day, he’s just another piece of shit billionaire who didn’t make anything of himself other than exploiting his families money for his own benefit and did nothing to help anyone else.

Greed is a form of psychosis. A psychosis that turns the person into a sociopaths.

He’s nothing more than a glib self serving parasite on society.
