"The coming split"

This article written by someone based on a premise that the majority of the Republican party support Trump...I don't think so.

https://amgreatness.com/2022/12/28/the-coming-split/

That leads us to the inevitable question: What should we do when a majority of Republicans want Trump, but the Republican Party says we can’t have him? Do we knuckle under and vote for Ron DeSantis because he would be vastly better than any Democrat?

1. I think around 20% are pretty hardcore TFG supporters.

Most would probably still vote for Deathsatan or whoever the Republicans nominate instead of stay with TFG because they hate Democrats more than they love Trump.

But, per both Pew ; Gallup mid-last year, only 24% of voters identify as republican. So, it might be a third of that who will stick with TFG even as the ship sinks.
Now, there are a lot of people identifying as independent that lean hard right, and a decent portion of them need the same life jackets.

to give him lip service out of fear of his core voter's power. I believe that many of them would be happy if he disappeared into the fog and night. I think that the only true-blue Trump supporters left are the 25% or less of American knuckle draggers. The Republican Party is in a precarious position.

A Trump, banned from running, or dead would be the best for their Party. They could have their cake and eat it too. "See what the evil Democrats did to our spiritual leader? " I just hope to Dog that the Republicans don't throw their weight behind DeSantis; he is a Putin waiting in the wings.

I would love to see a MAGA Party that could capture 15- 20% of the Republican vote.

True. But if that doesn't occur and he seeks the GOP nomination and doesn't get it, he won't likely accept another embarrassment. So, the Truth ( ) Party will be born.

Taking a stand on principle with regard to their candidates seems to be a thing of the past.

So of course he's rooting for a "split."

If Chump doesn't start a third party - let's call it the "Losers Party" - then he'll never be nominated for anything again. Do we care either way? Heck no! Let him go.

Hmm...depends on how you define "the Republican party"...GOP voters, or the elected and party apparatchiks.

Among Republican voters, Trump is the leading candidate for that party's presidential nominee.
