Dems are expected to gain 2 in Senate, up from 51. Add Bernie Sanders and we get to 54. Maine elected an Independent to replace Snowe (R).

Dems are expected to gain 5 in the House, up from 193.

1 Senate seat TBD (expected D).
13 House TBD.

the House 237-198 I got from MSNBC, and yes, it's only projected. Someone on here said we might hit 200.

Before Dems needed 28 Repubs to cross the aisle to vote for rational policies on taxes and the deficit. As of next year, we will only need 18-20, which is a lot more doable. I really don't think there is going to be another debt-ceiling standoff like we had last year. The "Tea Party moment" has come and gone.

They have had 4 years practice at obstructionism, I expect them to be better at it now.
Hopefully as a lame duck, Obama has the willingness to use some Presidental powers for important issues...like Executive Orders.
Ironically, because of the Repub House refusal to actually help pass a budget,
on Dec. 31, tax increases and other budgetary laws will take effect automatically.
