Physician reacts to rumors about Damar Hamlin's collapse. (ALSO, an update on his health.)

As a physician I believe Damar Hamlin was likely suffering from commotio cordis where a blow to the chest at a precise moment in the electrical cycle stops the heart. Those trying to tie this to vaccine status to project their unscientific beliefs are terrible, horrible people.

The key question, according to Dr. Vin Gupta on MSNBC, who also mentioned commotio cordis, is whether Hamlin was given defibrillation treatment immediately afterwards.

An update on #DamarHamlin per his marketing team:

His vitals are back to normal. Doctors need to put him to sleep to run a breathing tube down his throat. They continue to run tests tonight.

Still waiting to hear from UC Medical.

Yes, it's very rare because the hit has to occur at just the right millisecond of the heart's cycle. SunSeeker Jan 2023 #12

Two nurses came in and pounded him on the back and turned him, for supposed respiratory therapy. I will never forget that.

That said, I first learned about CC maybe 15
years ago when a child died after being hit in the chest by a pitched baseball in a Little League game. Tragic.

It's not new.

If he had the impact just a few milliseconds before or after that particularly vulnerable point in the heart's electrical cycle, he would have been fine. This doctor explains it well:
