The worst thing so far is the seeming empowerment of the Maga congressmembers. But imagine the house speakership being essentially held hostage in a year when there was a pres. election with "iffy" results.

We are vulnerable as the idiocy continues...
Let's hope this is remembered by the voters in 2024.

Maybe some coalition-building could result in a palatable middle-roader, but who knows...

Of course if you count the house members who should probably be in jail for seditious conspiracy, graft and corruption, etc. we'd be in the majority..

I got my news from actual reputable news sites that were reporting on what Licht was doing in trying to curry favor with Republicans on Capitol Hill, his internal memos that were leaked, etc. in conjunction with what staff was let go, his changes to programming, etc. His attacks on the left for its criticism of him while you can find no such similar attacks on the right for its criticism of his network, even though they have been attacking CNN for years and haven't stopped even after he has tried to kiss their ass to """win back their trust."""

And I will no longer watch CNN because of it.

And -- judging from the responses around here, plus how terribly Licht's version of CNN has performed in the ratings lately -- lots of other now-former CNN viewers agree with me.

And I would say what's not aging well if your inexplicable defense of them when we can see with our eyes the change in direction -- for the worse -- that Licht has taken that network.

Even Fox """News""" was calling what happened with the Republicans yesterday a shitshow. Do you likewise consider them objective or, dare I say, "fair and balanced?"

an unvetted article on the Daily Kos, and then it when viral on the left-wing Twitterverse.

No one seems to have vetted the bullshit story, one with fake quotes and inventions. Instead the conspiracy was swallowed whole cloth.

Not a good look for those who claim to be Democrats.

Those deadenders who cling to this rightwing originated conspiracy theory just keep embarrassing themselves.

And I didn't get my information from Daily Kos or "left-wing Twitterverse" either.

By the way, can you provide me with Licht's response after a Republican congressman went on his network yesterday and repeatedly called the host a "young lady" and called them the Clinton News Network? Because he was quick to jump on the left for their criticizing him, so I'm sure he will be quick to chastise this Republican for demeaning his employee and his network, yes?

and the party is fracturing into dozens of devil driven pieces.

I think McCarthy wants to be Speaker so much he'll give in to all their demands, even contradictory demands, just to get the title, the only question being how many votes it's going to take him.

This why I'm hoping 2024 is the year of the RNC Donnybrook at their convention. I've been waiting all my life to see fistfights breaking out all over the convention floor, buttons ripped off, signs flying, the language making the networks switch to playing soothing music rather than the sound from the convention.

McCarthy couldn't wait to fly down to Mar-A-Lago and shine TFG's shoes and posterior. Now McCarthy's making American history by losing. He should have learned how to count votes first before he lost weight and bought those new suits for his close up. He could have asked Nancy, the master of counting votes, for advice. McCarthy could of learned a thing or two from Al Pacino in the famous scene in the film Glengarry Glen Ross:" "You never open your mouth 'til you know what the shot is."
