1. I think this issue is part of the current "negotiations" we are witnessing right now.

Certain people are demanding no consequences for their part in the insurrection.

6. I also think this is one reason Jordan and MTG threaten so many investigations of Dem politicians.

They are hoping to cut a deal.

It is the way DC works.

8. It is 100% obvious. McCarthy has stated he wants to gut the Congressional Ethics Cmtee.

https://time.com/6243981/mccarthy-proposes-gutting-office-of-congressional-ethics-in-bid-for-speaker/

This is an office which investigates the wrong doing of congressional members.
Clearly, for him to make this promise if he gets elected Speaker shows us he
is under pressure from congressional members to be protected.

And certainly these same members would be afraid of the DOJ as well.

But they know that DOJ prosecutors cut deals every hour of the day.
It is totally commonplace.

And DC almost always protects its own.

We will find out this year as we see who is indicted or not.
Perhaps they will only get sanctioned, but not face jail time or lose their seat.
Maybe nothing at all will happen.

I suspect that McConnell already cut a deal for Hawley and Cruz.
We know they were involved in the insurrection but there is not a
word in the press about it. McConnell is sick of these two, they ignore
direct orders from him. But McConnell is not about to lose two senate seats.

I thought maybe McCarthy cut a deal at the same time.
When he pulled Jordan and Banks off the J6 committee.
Two nasty flying monkeys silenced. Very odd.

So now all he has to do is gut the Congressional Ethics committee.
All sins are erased.

Maybe I am totally wrong. I hope so.
I would be very happy to be proven wrong.

Time will tell as things unfold this year.
Then we will know what has happened.

And make a deal with the DOJ.

I really do not think Garland wants to indict 20 sitting members of congress.

I think the deal cut is that the GOP would hand over Trump on a platter to Garland.

(The GOP knows Trump is hurting their brand and he has to go.
They let the Democrats do the heavy lifting and take the blame.)

So Garland gets Trump dead to rights, but leaves everyone else alone.
Maybe just a few sanctions here and there on MOC.

Then everyone is happy.

All the facts to date support this theory, but time will tell.
As new facts roll in, I revise the theory or throw it out altogether.

Sometimes all the data points to one theory, but something new comes in
and you go in another direction.

The DOJ will never want to indict sitting congress people for this. Heck, they could not bring themselves to enforce subpoenas like Meadows who was no longer working in the white house at this time.
Short of having definite proof one of them planted a bomb for example, nothing will happen.
