popcorn and alcohol is my U. S. Rep., Kat Cammack. (I voted for her D opponent.) She's former deputy chief of staff for former Rep. Ted Yoho and co-chairs the House anti-abortion caucus, altho she does say she would permit abortions in the case of rape, incest (if reported to law enforcement) or mother's life. Also voted to overturn the 2020 election.

I'm not for fat-shaming, but this seems inconsistent to me.
qazplm135
(7,447 posts)Don't have full control over their weight. And people do have some control over their intelligence, it's called education and learning.
It's not as if people like her are incapable of understanding, if they were they wouldn't be able to function in Congress.
They are unwilling to learn, or they abandon curiosity for the safety of dogmas and prejudice.

Thats not directed at a fascist Republican who would put us all in gulags if she had the chance, its directed at DUers!
But nary an objection from those complaining loudest in this thread.
To your point about the slobfather references, I think its not unlike office or middle school politics. If youre in the cool kids mutual admiration society, you get a wide berth. If not, you dont.

(53,968 posts)...using the word "Jew", a noun, as an adjective, as you did with "Jew slur", is, in fact, a slur in of itself. Had you said, "Jewish slur", that would not be a slur.

Her gender has nothing to do with her repulsiveness. Neither does her size. But out of all the insults they could have chosen, the OP chose to insult her weight and her gender.
And with your own reference to "language police" you're demonstrating your own insensitivity.

that she will see the post here, or that thousands of DU members will?
Abolishinist
(1,304 posts)believe that you thought so either.
So with that as a frame of reference, when you said 'the slur doesn't hurt her one bit', the point I thought you were attempting to make was that IF someone referred to her as a COW (anywhere outside of DU), she would not be 'hurt' by said reference, as opposed to many on DU who are.
pnwmom
(108,990 posts)to refer to any overweight woman, even a detestable Republican, the only people it hurts are DU readers who are overweight and/or female.
So why is the OP stubbornly clinging to that wording, when dozens of DUers have expressed their unhappiness with the fat and female shaming?

(4,553 posts)In all fairness, we really need to come up with an acceptable non-misogynistic word for a disagreeable person.
The ones I use in private are very satisfying because they begin with the letter B or F. Both letters seem to satisfy the urge to express pure frustration against unpleasant humans. Not sure why, maybe linguists can weigh in on this.
B, and Fing B. There is one for each sex. They are not acceptable in polite conversation so I just say brat instead.
I am open to suggestions as to what to label unpleasant humans.
