Why would any sane person be a Republican politician today?
Other than seeking personal financial gain, imposing one's own radical agendas on everybody and feeding their own inflated egos, of course.
Because these people definitely do not care or know how to govern.
They're completely incompetent.
They have no moral center.
They're utterly hostile to the very ideal of self-governance.
I'm have a hard time believing that they've even mastered basic object permanence.
The Republican Party is irreparably broken, a sure sign that American politics itself is broken. Half the electorate wants a broken party to run the country.
What sane person would think that the Republicans would know WTF they're doing?

That's the reason they run for office. They want to destroy our democratic form of government and install a dictator instead of a president, with permanent republican rule in Congress, and lifetime right-wing judges in the Judiciary.
They want permanent minority rule over the majority of Americans. That's all. They're not asking for much.

Might be interesting to find out how many of the "Freeedom Caucus 20" and others are working to keep the government shut down at the behest of Leonard Leo and their big dark money "donors" who would like to drown the government in a bathtub so they don't have to pay taxes or follow regulations and laws. Maybe Senator Whitehouse has some insights into how much that anarchist job pays.
