Do the assholes holding up the Speaker selection realize...

that if we have a bridge or dam collapse or a terrorist attack, or anything else involving government action, nothing can be done except by departments previously authorized.

And there are only about 20 of them, plus maybe a dozen or so hanging out in the background, so all their bluster is meaningless.

If Biden can sit down with Senate Republicans and their leader, how fucked up are those House Rs?

Their end goal is a nationwide uprising bigger than J6 could have ever been.

The MAGA conspiracy theorist nutcases were installed to cause chaos and generate content for Fox News hosts, and that's about it. They have no intention of actually leading the country. MAGA / America First is a cancer on our government and it needs some serious eradication now.

Or a terrorist attack except talk about it and alocate money. They are only needed to declare war and I'm sure they would quickly find a speaker if they needed to do that.

The bridge is managed by the NYDOT. It would be a job for FDNY, NYPD, FEMA, and likely others. Congress's role would be hearings and allocating money. These things wouldn't happen quickly. The only responsibility that the House has that is unique and urgent is declaring war. And that hasn't happened in 80+ years. The president can go to war without them for 90 days.

as McCarthy or maybe even worse so what is the hurry? The longer it takes the less BS we will have to listen to and I assure you it will be nasty and meaningless.

So take your time - call each other names - make sure the American voter knows just how dysfunctional you really are.

If it was a true national emergency, they would immediately reconvene and put McCarthy in as speaker.
