question re: the debt ceiling

We know that the holdouts in the house are often ones who want to hold the economy hostage via the "debt ceiling", the ones who want at social security. Since we know these people have gained power, what measure does Biden have to stop this?

I remember back in the Obama days, there was tlak of a "trillion dollar coin>"

why one of the last things that Pelosi and Shumer did not attempt was to fix this debt ceiling issue. I am afraid their calculation may have been they would rather have the political issue next year than address the problem. Or maybe they could not get 60 in the Senate so that was the problem.

2. Tell the a$$holes that the debt ceiling is to pay the debt for money already spent

And it is against the law for them to not pay it.

9. Don't confuse "spent" or "disbursed" with "allocate."

I've allocated money next month for my mortgage payment. And food. And other expenses. I make sure on day 6 month X I have expenses through day 6 month X + 1 in my account, cued up. I've been close to being homeless and do this in case I'm suddenly without income.

If I check my bank account tomorrow, Jan. 7, and my bank accounts has been hacked so all the money to be dished out between 1/7 and 2/6 has been drained and I have no money in the bank, I can't say the money's been allocated and therefore already expensed so the hackers can't have taken it--all my bills are paid. They're not. I've allocated and authorized spending the funds (thanks EFTs) but until the designated date the money's in my account and hackable.

Allocated =/= disbursed.

They are different things, regardless of the rhetoric's ?.

There are more than enough Corporate and K street republicans whose donors will not tolerate a default, dems will only need 5 of them to join dems in defeating the terrorists.

5. The problem is the insurrectionists might change the discharge petition rule

Currently, the speaker controls which legislation reaches the floor. If the speaker blocks a vote, it can be overcome by a discharge petition with a simple majority.

I believe one of the concessions the insurrectionists have demanded of Kevin is to change that rule.

Again, the Corporate republicans will never allow the change to take place, their corporate masters would cut off their funding.

With more people paying taxes, we should see the need to raise the debt ceiling move out a few months. Would be perfect if this came up during primary season. Historically, shutting down the government has never helped Republicans.

And if they try to hold SSI hostage during an election year that would just prove how stupid they are.
