I normally for the public defending themselves, but if
the guy was leaving and got in the back, this must be murder?

(8,188 posts)He didn't shoot him as he was leaving. That's false af. Based off the video, it doesn't look like the robber was leaving at all. The robber was still a threat and had his gun pointed at someone. That customer waited for the best and safest time to pull out his weapon so he could take care of the threat. That customer who fired his weapon better not get charged with a crime. He did exactly what he was suppose to do and he didn't break the law in any kind of way.

His 'gun' is pointed at the person in the booth by the door.

(18,926 posts)Originally I was going to say clear self-defense.
However as he continues to shoot after the robber is down, it becomes very questionable. There is no longer a threat although he maybe could claim heat of the moment.
The 3-4 second pause as he walks over and fires the final shot eliminates any defense. I would say 2nd degree murder.

(16,207 posts)The late shots could be debated by a lawyer claiming fear of the gunman being a danger but the coup de grâce seals the deal for murder.

(3,171 posts)Armed robbers take their lives into their own hands. I'd do exactly the same in such a situation, keep shooting until they stop moving and adrenaline would probably take over.
Using a firearm in *any* crime should be the death penalty or life in prison in solitary with NO chance of parole.

Police sometimes shoot until completely sure the threat is over.

(34,491 posts)It wasn't necessary to shoot the guy that many times. I think he knew he was wrong because he got out of there real quick. The right wing gun enthusiasts here are calling this guy a hero. I disagree completely.
