Why McCarthy's election as Speaker is fantastic news for Democrats:

Last edited Sat Jan 7, 2023, 06:17 AM - Edit history (1)

The threshold for triggering a vote for a new Speaker is down to 1 Representative.

ONE!

McCarthy tries to swear in a Republican who supported the J6 insurrection, thus violating the 14th Amendment?

Time to hold a new election for a Speaker.

McCarthy tries to swear in George Santos, of whom we don't even know whether he is a US citizen or a citizen of Brazil?

Time to hold a new election for a Speaker.

McCarthy tries to boot Schiff, Omar and Cortez off of committees, for reasons that might be a personal, dishonorable vendetta?

Time to hold a new election for a Speaker.

Republicans refuse to do what the Democrats want?

Time to hold a new election for a Speaker.

at least I thought that's what he was talking about, and he said they tried that when he first joined the house, and it was a complete mess. There were thousands of amendments. It didn't last long.
