Gaetz threatened to resign if Dems worked with moderate GOPers to select a Speaker

Why didn't we take him up on the offer and make that deal? There are any number of GOPers who'd have been a damned sight better to have in the Speaker's chair than McCarthy.

We didn't take him up on the offer and make a deal because Republicans didn't need us to? Ever think of that?

And, as commentators -- including former Republican House members -- said, Republicans were more willing to work with their extremists like Gaetz rather than work with Democrats. Even so-called """moderate""" Republicans, as if there are really any of those that exist in the House now.
