Why didn't we take him up on the offer and make that deal? There are any number of GOPers who'd have been a damned sight better to have in the Speaker's chair than McCarthy.

And, as commentators -- including former Republican House members -- said, Republicans were more willing to work with their extremists like Gaetz rather than work with Democrats. Even so-called """moderate""" Republicans, as if there are really any of those that exist in the House now.
