As someone who lives in the big city, I can say that denying peoples perceptions of crime and safety is a great way to get them to not vote for you.

(13,121 posts)There was no correlating increase in actual crime during that high-coverage period that justified the increase in coverage.
The Republican Owned Media spotlights and broadcasts what benefits them politically. It also mutes or criticizes and blames Democratslike asking what they would do about the Speaker issue.
If this wasnt true, President Bidens January 6th ceremonies wouldnt have been cut short on some TV stations. And there wouldve been questions over the duration of the Speaker Election Show during the past few days about the antagonists and their crimes.

(52,164 posts)The fact is crime, is at worst, up slightly from last year and not even remotely close to as bad as the 1980's and early 1990's. The media in New York in particular, made it look like we were experiencing an unprecedented crime wave when that wasn't remotely close to the truth. Santos is in Congress now precisely due to the press doing a shitty job.
