Except I've only seen them do English subtitles for Russian.

I just saw the clip.... whatever was said.. matt said "OK". & who was it whispering in his ear?

(10,162 posts)Matty, that is. I'd want to attack him too if he weren't that much taller than me (and I could stand to be in the same county - much less the same room)

(14,325 posts)There was a seemingly cordial verbal exchange between Kevin and Matt, during the motion to adjourn vote, there seemed to be nods of agreement and friendly arm pats, then Kevin turned and went straight away to change his vote on the motion to adjourn while voting was still open. He was motioning to others and more GOOPs picked up red cards, which I believe were submissions to change their vote. The Nays began rising while the Yays began falling. Whatever it was, the moment appeared to be between Kevin and Matt.
The guy in the above clip has a beard and wears glasses

(38,019 posts)I watched that moment happen live. When I saw it, it looked threatening but after Burchett said whatever he said, he sat back down right next to Gaetz and Boebert.

(2,759 posts)Burchett has grizzled brown hair and beard.

The mystery man is silver haired.
The glasses are similar, the beard on the silver-haired guy is hard to make out, silver hairs show, but it could be grizzled.

(42,778 posts)And McCarthy wins the speakership regardless of how Gaetz voted. He could've cast another vote for Trump and McCarthy would still have won on the 15th ballot. He could have not shown up to vote at all and McCarthy wins.
The discussion between McCarthy and Gaetz occurred during the 14th vote. McCarthy voted present. If he had voted for McCarthy, McCarthy would have won on that ballot. And he continued to vote present on the 15th ballot, when it didn't matter how he voted.

(2,198 posts)That's Matt being told that they have all the pictures, all the paperwork, all the money transfers. And it's all coming out if he doesn't change his vote.

(42,778 posts)And on the 15th, his vote no longer mattered.

There are some quote floating around from Burchett about Rogers being a hot head and this isnt his first time threatening people. Rogers is the one that lunges at Gaetz.

(43,578 posts)change, to present. BoBo also did not change, she was a present vote on rounds 14 and 15.
6 Presents,
216 for McCarthy,
212 for Jeffries
428 total votes
McCarthy thus needed 215, so clinched it with one vote to spare

(9,998 posts)I thought they were so opposed to McCarthy, and when they voted Present, it enabled him to win.
The whole thing seemed like theatrics. Makes me wonder why I bother to watch this garbage.

(58,785 posts)had to be from whoever turned out to be winning. Political pros could have written his part days ago, just leaving a blank for name of speaker.
Of the 20 or 21, including the 6 "nevers," in the end THREE still stood against McCarthy. And they were among the worst institution-burning extremists, hardly their best. What a party.
