Why is "Sunset Boulevard" trump's favorite movie?
Just wondering about the psychology behind that.

1. Because he knows that he's Norma Desmond . . .
Just as every accusation is a confession with these clowns, deep down in what remains of his "self", Shitstain knows that he's a fragment of the past, a has-been, a washed up remnant of whatever he remembers of The World As It Should Have Remained.
Thanatos draws him on - the idea of his own disappearance is incomprehensible, and incomprehensibly fascinating, and he can't look away, all of his sociopathic defense mechanisms notwithstanding. |

4. No. Not at all
William Holden somehow ends up at the home of an aging movie star (Gloria Swanson)
She eventually ends up killing him. It is a cult movie though. |

8. Gloria Swanson plays a washed-up silent film star
Who lives in a big mansion. She does nothing but watch her old films and refuses to accept that she's no longer famous.
She then strikes up a relationship with a much younger man (William Holden) and winds up killing him. Sound familiar? |

9. It is really pretty good. Fun psychological thriller about a washed up has been actress.
Classical Hollywood at it's best.
I can't imagine Trump liking this movie, it's too good! |

I’ll have to check it out

21. This was the movie that brought home how important a director was for me.
The camera angles, the cut scenes. This movie opened the door to cinema as an art form, and I began to look more for directors, and less for actors when I went looking in the videotape rental stores.
The performances in Sunset Boulevard were pretty good too, and I couldn’t help but draw my own parallels between the final scene and shithead coming down his golden escalator. Never knew it was his favorite flick, but not going to let that cheapen it for me. |

5. I like that movie too
But, like most people I sympathize with William Holden’s character. Gloria Swanson made an excellent portrayal of a powerful narcissist.
Trump probably imagines himself doing a bigly better job than Bill, sweeping into that old mansion, taking Gloria by the p-word, at which point she sighs and falls into his arms and they go off to New York to build towers and party with Epstain. |

Sunset Boulevard is a truly great film. I can't fault him for liking it.

19. He had previously said Kane was his favorite movie
In fact, his comments on the movie were to be part of a documentary on Citizen Kane but they didn't make the final cut because he obviously didn't understand the movie at all. However, Mar-a-Lago is likely an attempt to re-create Xanadu.

20. It's an excellent movie. And Gloria Swanson's acting performance is one of the best ever, IMO
I'm just surprised that trump would think so highly of it. He just doesn't have much class.

24. Perhaps Trump likes the fact
that the smarty pants, sarcastic screenwriter gets
shot to death for having the nerve to advise a star to face reality. |
