I'm so glad I'm fully vaccinated

I’m temporarily in a nursing home — stupid accident, broken bones. An aide with her paper mask under her nose just apologized for taking a bit long to get to me because she had been busy in the covid ward. And this is supposed to be the best nursing home locally.

at a time when you are dependent on the staff for help. Think healthy positive thoughts,
be confident in the vaccines you've received and hopefully, you can get out of there and home before anyone transmits something to you.

that's the important thing. since you're posting I'll assume you didn't.

the new variants are quite infectious. the vaccines REDUCE your odds of infection; they aren't a guarantee.

Yes, thank goodness you're fully vaccinated. If you do catch covid, it probably won't be too severe. But I hope you are able to wear a KN95 or other topnotch mask when the aides come into your room. This new BXX 1.5 variant is extremely contagious.

They went to a Christmas party and both came home with Covid. He described it as having a bad cold, who knows what it would have been like if he were an antivaxxer.

And scold that person who isn’t paying attention with their mask. Don’t be shy.
Don’t put up with that nonsense.

Just say something like, " Thanks for your help today...Please wear your mask over your nose." It has always worked for me. No need to explain anything.

I also find it helpful to BE "helpful" and say something like, "Your mask slipped," while pointing at their face. If they look at you funny, you can say, "I wouldn't want you to get sick, that would be awful."

I would use kindness until it made me mad enough to be rude back to them.
You see, if they don't have their mask on properly, they are being rude to you. And dangerous.

is in a nursing home and back in September of 2022, for about a month, there was an outbreak of Covid. They had eight people die. Since then, there have been cases here and there. My Mom was exposed a couple of days before Christmas, but never got it, nor did she get it in September. It too is a good nursing home. The fact that so many people don’t wear masks anymore doesn’t help. When I go visit her we are required to wear one in the nursing home as it should be.

Sorry to hear that. Please make sure to wear n95 to protect yourself as well.

I would also complain to whoever is in charge that she was not wearing her mask properly. Take pics.

I complained on a few occasions one was in the MICU where my father was when there were people sitting in the patient waiting room with no masks on and then they walked into the micu with no masks on. I told my father’s nurse at the time and she said she told them they have to wear a mask. But obviously the damage was already done.

That hospital was severely negligent and more on so many levels. I have pictures of people in the ER not wearing their masks properly- people who work there. And others. Someone else wrote a review that their relative had been informed that a patient with Covid unmasked was walking around on their ward exposing everyone, so they all had to self monitor themselves at home! That person‘s relative decided to go to a hotel instead.

This was before the we don’t need masks anymore crap started, after the of the second peak.

Ask the aides to open the window when they're in the room, and for God's sake, wear their mask properly.

You should let the floor NURSE know that expect better masking protocol.
