The media is loving this Republican comeback

For 2 years the cable news networks were salivating for a return to divided government. Breathlessly speculating that Republicans would take back the House. Well they got their wish.

They basically did the GQP's work for them by bashing Democrats for high inflation, gas prices and a "crisis" at the border while never asking what the whiny Republicans plan was to address those problems. They did a total disservice to voters.

Now the media gets endless melodrama about Hunter Biden's laptop, debt celing showdowns and whether the insurrectionist lawmakers will be able to obstruct investigations into their own insurrection.

It will be good for their ratings and horrible for American democracy.

Meanwhile people who voted these fascists back in office will soon have buyer's remorse and decide Washington is broken and both parties are to blame.

We could have had 2 year more of competent, unified government but here we are. Back to 2018 with Jim Jordan and his sedition caucus trying to destroy government and the world economy just to prove it doesn't work.

Thank you New York for this return to Trumpist insanity.

2022 wasn't a massive win for them like 2010/2014 was, but then again, they took control of the House nonetheless.

After all the California votes were counted the GOP only won the House popular vote by 1.6M votes.

They proved that after Trump lost by 2.8 million votes and still governed like the whole country was behind him.

Even if they had a 1 seat majority they'd still be doing what they're doing now.

Bashing Democrats, they love to do. Kissing GQP asses is their thing.

Let them flip out and do crazy shit. They're incapsulated like a cyst and can do no lasting damage. Let all those folks in +5 R districts and less see how crazy they are. They're their own worst enemies. The 2022 mid-terms prove exactly that. Think about it, with inflation higher than we've seen since I was a young adult, they STILL couldn't manage to take the House by any substantial margin. Their speaker doesn't control either end of his own caucus. I think it's going to be fun to watch, particularly the night of Nov. 5, 2024.

24. I was referring to the New York Democratic Party
Mon Jan 9, 2023, 08:40 PM

From a Huffington Post post-election article

Democrats narrow miss on keeping control of the House has increased scrutiny on the party’s weak showing in New York. Republicans took control of four U.S. House seats in New York previously held by Democrats: two in the Hudson Valley and two on Long Island. Democrats also fell short in a central New York district that President Joe Biden carried and a retiring moderate Republican was vacating.

There are always numerous reasons for a given political outcome, but two critical factors stand out about the Democrats’ overall failure in New York. New York Democrats drafted a congressional redistricting plan that a court struck down on the grounds that it violated a 2014 constitutional amendment barring partisan gerrymandering. And Democratic New York Gov. Kathy Hochul got trounced by her Republican challenger, Rep. Lee Zeldin, in the New York City suburbs, creating a drag on candidates further down on the ballot.

Taken together, it is not an exaggeration to say that the House might remain in Democratic hands if it were not for the party’s disappointing results in New York."

There's way too many to blame for this (Fox, AM radio, megachurches, etc) and it may take decades to repair. But we have got to get this country back on track. The division and insanity is getting really embarrassing.

Immediately after Biden was inaugurated they focused obsessively on 2 questions: "Will the Republicans take back Congress in 2022?" and "Will Trump run for President again in 2024?"

Well they got both and they seem giddy.
