"SNIP.......

Tens of millions of Californians faced another bout of heavy downpours, high winds, flooding and mudslides on Monday after the relentless weather over the last 10 days killed 12 people and left tens of thousands without power.

An evacuation order for the entire community of Montecito and surrounding canyons scarred by recent wildfires came on the fifth anniversary of a mudslide that killed 23 people and destroyed more than 100 homes in the coastal enclave.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff Bill Brown said the decision to evacuate nearly 10,000 people was "based on the continuing high rate of rainfall with no indication that that is going to change before nightfall." Creeks were overflowing and many roads were flooded, he said.

Immediate family live in the state, some in the Bay area, some in the big valley and some near the southern border. I checked in with one so far, they said they are safe. I'll be checking with the others in the next days or so.

I have heard from the southern group and it's not bad there with this and the last, the next will impact that area. The group in the valley are okay and not seeing flooding where they are. Don't communicate much with the SFO group, I hope they are ok.

It's not like I can do much. Most are adults and smart enough to seek safety if need be.

People up past Sacramento and those living near rivers, etc. are having some problems. Expecting more heavy rain tomorrow though.

Solano County, and it all drains into Grizzly Bay for us, so flooding isn’t an issue.

I have friends up near Guerneville who said they’re in for a time. And they just had massive flooding only a few years ago that nearly wrecked the town.

That's how I feel, sometimes, when the power goes out.

I hope you didn't have major loss of food and such.

and we fired it up to run the freezer, refrigerator, a lamp and the computer and internet stuff. My server goes down in big storm sometimes. Last night we couldn't get the generator to run, but today the sun came out and another neighbor came by, took the carburetor apart and cleaned the float valve to get it running again. I live in the best neighborhood.
