Majority of callers Republican. I am trying to call but can’t seem to get on. They’re showing RW perspectives on articles, no progressive media being representative. Damn 🤬

2. As a daily watcher I'll let you in on my theory

There is a coordinated phone bank operation run by the right every day.

Talking points are quoted verbatim by those on r and independent phone lines.

An occasional lucid Democrat caller makes it through, but the other side effectively uses the public call-in show as a free propaganda megaphone to push their agendas, conspiracies and other right wing theories.

Overall, guests tend to be fifty/fifty on the political spectrum. But most callers seem to be coordinated by an invisible hand.

3. Yes, and it's all the same people who call into Randi Rhodes' show,

Stephanie Miller's show, Thom Hartmann's show... It's been going on since the Clinton years, at least. Their favorite opening line is, "I used to be a Democrat, but I left because..." After which their propaganda spew commences. Stephanie often tries to guess whether or not she left them on long enough for them to get paid.

I first saw it during the Clinton witch hunts--Bill, not Hillary, although she got dragged into those, too. They spam discussion boards and comments sections with it, as well. It's so old and tired that, these days, it is pretty much an admission that, "I'm Republican who is lying to get paid for spreading propaganda."

14. Over the years I have noticed a reduction in the righties

who get through on Stephanie's show.

I can't remember the last time that guy from Texas showed up (he has called so much he had a jingle, as did RoadFlareMary)

The regular callers now are all Democrats.

13. I was watching back when Clinton was President and Brian Lamb was on and two callers

20 minutes apart read the same talking points word for word. You could see he was pissed off. That was when they went to the separate lines and started trying to limit repeat callers.

She just could not believe that there were that many nutcases out there and so few normal people.

At the time, it did not occur to us that it was planned to choke the Democratic callers.

My CSPAN junkie mom did the same and blamed Brian (back in the early days) for not using the "foot pedal" to cut off the loon callers but was quick to use it if a liberal barely managed to get through.

10. I stopped watching years ago.

Because I thought it was dishonest not to call many of the Rs who call on the Dem line to just hang up on them and tell them, sorry, you called the wrong line. Call back on the proper line. They know they're jamming the lines to keep honest callers out, but they don't do it. I don't want to waste my time listening to one side continuously. Might as well watch Fox to do that.

Also, I noticed within months after Obama was elected, callers or writers to sites would often say things like, "I was a big supporter of his, I contributed to him/voted for him, but I changed parties, I'm disappointed, etc." This was most often an outright lie. People who go to the trouble to contribute to an individual candidate, then take the trouble to vote for them, gives their politician a chance, lot longer than a few months to fulfill expectations. As soon as someone says that it usually turns a switch in my head that says lies coming.
