(40,730 posts)It's called MIRT - Malicious Intruder Response Team. At any time of the day, several MIRT members are on duty to handle the situation. So we don't have to worry about confronting the intruder, just report it.
To get positive and immediate action, go to the offending post and click on the link in the lower left corner of the post/reply that says "Report Abuse." This will trigger a screen (seen only by you) that allows you to explain why that post is being alerted on. You click on the reason for the alert - there are several reasons to choose from - and click send.
A jury of DUers will be asked for their judgment as to whether the offending post is bad enough to be hidden. Usually but not always, regular DUers will agree with you that it needs to be hidden. However even if the post is hidden, it doesn't automatically ban the person who posted it.
The MIRT team will handle everything, once you have alerted on the post. This holds true for all OPs and all replies. Anything can be voted "hidden" by the jury if the majority agrees that it should not appear on DU. Any post that fails to follow our Terms of Service (TOS) rules deserves to be hidden.
