If you have just caught someone crawling out of one of your house windows with the a bag full

of cash, jewelry and electronic devices and the person loudly states "I am not a burglar!", does that clear him of the crime?

If someone steals your credit card and uses it to buy a diamond pinkie ring, a new riding lawnmower and a "TRUMP 2024" flag and you see your neighbor riding his new mower past the new "TRUMP 2024" flag hanging from his front porch and with a big new sparkler on his pinkie, do you call the police or say "Nah---coincidence!" and fuhgeddaboudit?

When Congressional candidates SAY they intend to cut Social Security and Medicare, get elected and then, in their first official act, vote to accomplish just that, do we believe them when they deny any intent to cut those programs?

Come spring, the Mall should be filled with walkers, wheel chairs and gray hair.

Even if there is solid evidence refuting their lies.

The gaslighting is amazing, and the public just seems to accept it.

It is truly the post truth era.

not caring about those who come after.

The people who will be truly fucked are the next fifteen or so years of retirees who don't have enough saved to ever retire without SS, because it was part of our planning.

Oh, and all the people who have never had a job that paid enough to cover basic necessities AND set up a savings plan. They will be fucked as well.

But if Republicans do this, they will be sure to tell the current recipients that they will be fine, it will only affect their shiftless children and grandchildren and the disabled.

On the other hand, the House can not do this on their own and there is no way in hell Biden signs anything that cuts or eliminates SS/Medicare.

make it obvious that IRS funding will be chopped and several Republicans are gleeful about their new ability to hold Social Secority and Medicare as hostages to require drastic budget cuts even if that crashes the economy and tanks our international credit rating. They'd be happy to "help balance the budget" by slashing benefits.

That's how I understand it, but there is not much clarity as to exactly how the new rules of the House will proceed. They may decide that Hunter's laptop and Joe's impeachment shoulnbe addressed first.
