How did the media miss all the lies of George Santos?

When people run for Congress, there are usually all kinds of people shining a light into every nook and cranny of your past. Your own party, the opposing party, the media, you name it?

For most jobs they do a background check.

How is it you can get into Congress with a package of lies?

No opposition research? And why did the NYT wait until after the election to break the story?

The media focused too much on polling and very convincingly told everyone the democrats would lose the senate and the house. They had no time to dig into Santos. The polling kept their ratings up and that’s what they sadly focused on.

A few days after Santos won the primary. But no one put money into district, and the local papers - well, you’ll have to ask them.

"How is it you can get into Congress with a package of lies?" -- By having an R next to your name on the ballot.

But most Democrats are too ethical to pull such a stunt much less get away with it.
