My cousin and his husband used to sponsor beauty queen contestants and even with all the bigotry and ugly ignorance they've experienced and witnessed as gay men they were still shocked by the narrow and limited, as well as limiting, view on who qualifies as beautiful.

The costume is hideous, I agree with others on that but that she is Filipino-American is wonderful.

There was a time when she would not have been the representative of the USA.
