If Trump stood in front of a courtroom and threatened to sue the Judge...?

Would he be held in contempt?

Isn't his name-calling and threats against the Special Counsel a similar offense? Is it not an obstruction of justice?

How does he keep getting away with this crap?

The people doing that now are courageous people because they know they will get death threats.

Fani Willis in Fulton County had to have extra security for herself, and she bought bullet proof vests for her prosecutors.

Until one is speaking truth to evil power one does not have a clue to the intimidation, the pressure that they face. I got a taste of it being on borough council in a town of 2,500 people. I spent many sleepless nights and yes there were death threats so I can appreciate what pressure these prosecutors are under. It is easy to sit back and armchair Quarterback.

Those in Security were really concerned that Russians were out to get Biden. And Biden does not trust the SS he was assigned. Bringing back his old group from his time as VP.

I also heard an author this mornin who worked with the Biden Adminstration to make sure there was a transition without Trump knowing. Trump even fired the WH staff so there would be no one to greet the Biden’s!

That shows you what a sleazy, revengeful, Little piece of manure Trump is.

They got replaced with ChumpHumpers who were all on board with it.

Don't forget that a lot of the WH staffers were out for other reasons after the November 2020 election. Several were out sick with Covid, or they said they were. Several knew the election was lost and they were going to lose their jobs. So they took paid holiday leave and started looking for new jobs. Not everyone supported Chump's attempted coup.

One would have thought the recording of Trump shaking down the Georgia secretary of state would get it to the courtroom by now. It hasn't, I guess because they figure the Georgia courts will try it and if he's convicted it can always get to the USSC where it will be overturned.

There will be no real calling to account for Trump in this or any instance which would equal the criminality he inflicted/inflicts. His extortion scheme will carry him through whatever may come.

I'll cut the guy some slack as there is so much MAGA criminality to deal with like all those J6 terrorists needing to be prosecuted.

But there is a limit after which it's just obvious he's not going to go after a former President who damn near ended Democracy with the help of some in Congress who also need to face Justice btw.

Remember when the mantra was "We're a nation of laws." Now we're looking at it and saying "Aren't we a nation of laws?" The answer is yes, we are a nation of laws. Laws and enforcement that protect the rich and privileged regardless of their actions, and laws and enforcement that punish the poor and despised. Police brutality against black folks? In the US skin tone is a pretty good indicator of wealth and prestige. White folks might have money so you let them slide unless it's obvious they can't fight back, like the homeless or mentally ill.

Trump gets away with it because the system was designed to protect him. When he became President that immunity shield got extra bonus points. He's pretty much untouchable. What about Clinton you say, well in GOP eyes he was white trash, and therefor undeserving of the white privilege he somehow stole. HRC married down and therefor lost her inherited privilege.

Don't bother trying to make sense of it, you're seeing the unwritten American caste system at work.

In general terms, people are found in contempt when they disobey a court order, like an order to appear for a hearing or deposition.

For example, Alex Jones. He disobeyed multiple court orders to appear for depositions, was found in contempt, & fined $25,000 a day starting on April 1 2022, & the fine increased by $25,000 each business day after. (Incidentally, that's one of the reasons why the judgement against him was so large, because he repeatedly defied court orders & was held in contempt & fined for it.)

If a court orders Trump to do something like appear for a deposition or hearing, & he refuses, he will then be in contempt.

And... I say that knowing all about the 2002 rape charges against GW Bush, & the fact that Bush received 2 court orders to appear at hearings in Texas, & never appeared. I monitored the case & saved copies of the court docs (they were public record). Bush's attorneys responded to the first order, although, if I recall correctly, the court filing didn't contain details of their response. Bush then received a second court order to appear, & that's where the case went cold, at least in terms of court filings that were public record. It looks like that order was ignored.

Bush was never held in contempt, even though he defied 2 court orders, so we'll see what happens.

In 2018 The Economic Times published this summary of the incident:

"In 2002, a woman from Texas, Marie Schoedinger, had accused Bush of allegedly kidnapping, drugging and raping her. The woman also filed a $50 million lawsuit against him after her statements made headlines. However, in what is debated as the Bush administration’s biggest cover-up, Schoedinger was found dead with a suicide note just months after filing the lawsuit."
