When or why would you ever consider replying this way to a post? I can't imagine doing so under any circumstances. I've read many things I disagree with on DU and I have stated why or ignored the post. Most often, I don't click on threads that seem uninteresting or repetitive.
Never really had an impulse to be rude or tell someone they are "trashed." Maybe I assume they wouldn't care if I trashed their thread. It just seems childish.

(23,078 posts)I enjoy reading everything, even stuff I don't necessarily "like".
I mean, if I'm already on DU in the first place, it's not like I'm busy doing something else, so I don't get aggravated too much, but I do have my hot buttons like everyone.
I tend to agree with the premise of your OP. That being said, I probably wouldn't get too upset if someone responded with the word "trashed" to me. I'd tend to just move on.

(23,078 posts)I look at it this way...
The internet can be horrible, and it can indeed be upsetting. When you find yourself getting upset or weirded out, just remember that the person probably would not say something like that to you in real life.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
