The arrest of a defeated candidate for the New Mexico legislature on charges that he orchestrated a plot to shoot up the homes of four Democratic officials in Albuquerque prompted widespread condemnation Tuesday as well as accusations that the stolen-election rhetoric among supporters of former president Donald Trump continues to incite violence.
Following the Monday arrest, new details emerged Tuesday about the alleged conspiracy, including how close a spray of bullets came to the sleeping 10-year-old daughter of a state senator. Albuquerque police said in charging documents released Tuesday that Solomon Peña, 39, who lost a state House seat in November by a nearly 2-1 margin but complained that his defeat was rigged, hatched the plot. Police accused him of conspiring with four accomplices to drive past the officials homes and fire at them.
Peña provided firearms and cash payments and personally participated in at least one shooting, the documents said. They alleged he intended to cause serious injury or death to the people inside their homes, the documents said. The group allegedly stole at least two cars used in the incidents, police said.
One of the targets of the attack said the shootings were part of a lineage of violence that stems from Trumps false claims of a stolen election and that includes the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.
You think it wouldnt happen here, that someone would do this to local officials, said former Bernalillo commissioner Debbie OMalley, whose home was shot at Dec. 11. Theres been this narrative for a long time: If you dont get your way, its okay to be violent. The message came from the top. It came from Trump.

D'oh. Guarantee he would be glued to Fox. And/or OAN and Newsmax.

(5 posts)Solomon Pena had full support of the Larouche cult when he ran for office and was active with them.
Plenty of Solomon Pena's lunacy and ideology came from the Larouche cult . He was a featured LarouchePAC candidate for state office
https://www.larouchepac.com/campaign_to_replace_the_federal_reserve_with_a_national_bank_gains_big_support
Pena gave money many times to the cult and so did the shooter who was arrested in his car.
Just google his name and Larouche

Complaints About Culture War And Demonic Forces Fueled Alleged New Mexico Shooters Political Campaign
A review of his campaign website and social media postings showed that Pena parroted deranged versions of right-wing culture war concerns. As he expressed fear over the Black Lives Matter movement and feminism prior to the election, Penas comments were tinged with the QAnon-adjacent idea that liberal ideology as a whole is part of some larger, nefarious plot with roots in the supernatural.
Critical Race Theory, the entire Black Lives Matter movement, aborting the unborn, food stamps, affirmative action, etc. are all demonic, Pena wrote in an essay posted on his main campaign site.
That was one of four main items on Penas campaign site including another essay arguing that various environmentally-friendly energy technologies were hoaxes, a link promoting an article posted by a political action committee that was led by the late conspiracy theorist Lyndon LaRouche, and a report that purportedly outlined issues with New Mexicos elections last year. There was no credible evidence of widespread fraud in those races...............
In mid October, Pena sent a pair of tweets ten minutes apart where he attacked Democrats and cast the progressive agenda as demonic. ..
Along with his apparent devotion to culture wars and election conspiracy theory rage, Pena also seemed to be animated by some even less mainstream ideas. On his website and Twitter page, Pena promoted the ideas of LaRouche, a noted anti-Semite and conspiracist whose ideology ran all over the map. Specifically, on Twitter, Pena highlighted pages from a LaRouche book that criticized the global influence of various think tanks and the World Wildlife Fund. Penas campaign site also linked to an article from LaRouches political action committee that railed against the scourge of globalist empire and cast former President Trump as having challenged the anti-human world view of elite economists. That article also advocated for developing a permanent human presence on the Moon as a solution to multiple societal issues.
Pena wasnt solely focused on the world of the demonic. Like the LaRouche acolytes, he also had an eye towards outer space and was eager to see moon colonies. In one November 2022 tweet where he attacked Stansbury for claiming to be PRO-SCIENCE. In that message, he framed abortion as an obstacle that would prevent the spread of civilization to other planets.
I disagree. We need a global population of ten billion people in order to have the proper division of labor so we can colonize the moon and Mars, but you are highly focused on helping abort 890,000 babies a year, in the U.S, Pena wrote adding, You are anti science.
a manifesto from noted conspiracist and right-wing activist Lyndon LaRouche that declares our Republic faces the greatest threat to its existence since the Civil War.
In a comment on the document, Peña complained that the University of New Mexico was overran with Marxism [sic]. (A university spokesperson confirmed to TIME that Peña graduated with a bachelors degree in political science in 2021.) A review of public records shows that he made nearly two-dozen donations to the Lyndon LaRouche PAC in 2022, which highlighted his campaign on their website for championing their policies. Solomon Peñas name on the LaRouche PACs site appears to be registered under the username USA Nationalist. The PAC did not respond to TIMEs request for comment......
