Has a victim reported a crime to the police? Which department?

After someone tells them “he stole money from me” then they go out across state lines and drag him back there?

The New Jersey trio that ran a GoFundme scam were out and about for quite a while before charges were brought.

Not too many police departments are going to get excited over a $3000 dispute, but nobody reads the news and decides to get an arrest warrant on that basis.

Assuming all the allegations are true. For white collar crimes prosecutors have a money threshold that must be met before they will prosecute. When I worked in the Phoenix U.S. Attorney's office the threshold was $500,000. Which means you had to steal $500,000 or more before we would prosecute you. (The resources simply were not there for cases below that). And that was about 15 years ago. The level is probably far higher now. So almost all go fund me requests are below that.
