It’s all performance theater playing to the crazies. Just like they voted to repeal the ACA a thousand times when there wasn’t a chance it would happen. When they had the power, crickets.

There’s no reason why we shouldn’t use it against them though.

for being a party — lower taxes and smaller government. That proposal smashes both in one fell swoop.

They've got a little power and have lost their 'effin' minds. Voters sure won't like that, not to mention it won't get past the Senate or Joe Biden's veto.

They will say that they have to because the Democrats ran up the debt and now there is no choice. And the third of the country which supports the Republicans will believe them. This third will hear on the news, in their churches, from their friends that Democratic spending caused the collapse of Social Security and Medicare, so this third will believe it. Relatively few of the third of voters who vote blue will believe the lies but their votes count for less thanks to gerrymandering and disenfranchisement. The third in the middle who up until now couldn't be bothered to vote? Let's hope that they aren't frightened because they haven't been paying attention and don't understand what is going on. Because frightened people often look for a Strong Leader with quick and easy answers.

WAY too many have been voting against their own best interests in this MAGA era that I'd never count on them just once using 'common sense.'

If you ever read The Jungle Book, they are the Bandar log.
They are monkeys who stay way up in the jungle canopy and rain down feces and insults on the other animals.

Oh hell, here's wiki's take:
"The Bandar-log feature most prominently in the story "Kaa's Hunting", where their scatterbrained anarchy causes them to be treated as pariahs by the rest of the jungle.[2] Their foolish and chattering ways are illustrated by their slogan: We are great. We are free. We are wonderful. We are the most wonderful people in all the jungle! We all say so, and so it must be true. Bandar-log communicate almost entirely through the repetition of other animals' speech"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bandar-log

None of their apeshit will ever get past the senate.
They don't have the votes to overturn a veto.
It's just gonna be two years of a clown show.
I think we'll survive.

This is all coming from the "House" - one part of the Legislative Branch of our government. The other part is the Senate - and that is now stocked with a Democratic majority (in spite of Sinema and Manchin - and THEY can be 'had' now and then).
So, no matter HOW absurd (and some WILL be) anything coming from the House would be, it needs to get through the Senate.
And even if it does (see: Sinema/Manchin) - the President (JOE!!!!) would have to sign it to be law. We have to trust Joe to keep us safe from the crazies - and he will.

THE PROBLEM: Anything that WE need, you know, like the debt limit - we need the 'House' to approve it. THAT is where it will be a problem for the next 2 years.

HOPEFULLY, after 2 years of their BULLSHIT we will have enough votes to get appropriate people in legislative positions so that we can actually have a functional government again.

The thing to get mad about is their obstinacy of reducing Social Security and Medicare as part of a "bargain" to raise the debt ceiling and Joe Manchin's eagerness to "help" with the negotiations. Everybody has to understand that the debt is owed and has to be paid, just as the debt ceiling was raised to pay for Trump's part of the debt.
