Crosby & Nash - Carry Me - the song David wrote after his mother's death. Studio & live, 2018.

And then there was my mother:
She was lying in white sheets there and she was waiting to die.
She said, "If you'd just reach underneath this bed
And untie these weights,
I could surely fly.

She's still smiling but she's tired,
She'd like to hear that last bell ring.
You know if she could she would
Stand up, and she could sing, singing

Carry me, carry me
Carry me above the world
Carry me, carry me.

I've already posted a thread that focused on an interview David did a couple of months ago, where he was looking forward to another decade of creating new music - https://democraticunderground.com/100217574192 - and showing how he was still balancing serious concern about our society with the magic created by music.

I didn't think of this song while I was writing that, and I considered adding it to the videos I posted in that OP.

But because this song is about transcendence, it seems best to post it separately.

From Crosby & Nash's second album, Wind on the Water:

my mother died a long time ago but I still miss her. When I read the words to that song it brought tears to my eyes even after all this time. 💔

helped.

I lost my mom not quite 5 years ago (a couple of weeks now till the anniversary of her death), after a long battle with Alzheimer's, and as painful as it was to lose her, I do believe (not for religious reasons; I don't follow any religion) that our spirits survive and our loved ones who've crossed over have transcended whatever suffering they endured here.

As your mother has. As David Crosby has now. I thought his lyrics here for his mother were perfect.
