Mystery divers rescued near Polish energy sites in the middle of the night offer dubious explanation, and vanish

BY ANNA NORYSKIEWICZ
UPDATED ON: JANUARY 20, 2023 / 8:28 AM / CBS NEWS

Coast guards rescued three divers off the northern coast of Poland over the weekend whose dubious explanation of their night-time dive near critical energy infrastructure, along with their mysterious identities, has reportedly sparked a cross-agency investigation. The three men, who told authorities they were Spanish nationals, were rescued near the Polish coastal city of Gdansk on Saturday night after their small motorboat broke down and they couldn't return to shore.

Since then, doubts over their intentions have mounted. They were rescued not far from the Naftoport facility at the Port of Gdansk, which receives tanker shipments of oil and other and petroleum products. They were also found near an area where there are plans to build a new floating natural gas terminal.

The Maritime Search and Rescue Service SAR told CBS News the rescue operation involved police officers, firefighters, and medical workers. SAR spokesman Rafal Goeck described the rescue operation — at just before 2 a.m. local time — as "rather unnatural."

"We received a signal from the fire brigade about a vessel in trouble," Goeck told CBS News, adding that conditions at the time were rough, with strong winds and high seas. The air temperature was only about 43 degrees Fahrenheit, and the water was closer to 37.

That the Polish "investigators" will be pretty effective at questioning these hapless divers. With tensions high due to the ukranian war, and the gas pipeline "accidents", their imaginations are probably a little active right now.

If they want answers, they will get answers.

The "we were looking for amber" excuse is about as believable as Russian weekend tourism to see the spire of Salisbury Cathedral.

"Coast guards rescued three divers off the northern coast of Poland"

Does Poland have a southern coast?

Some underwater munitions specialists down there or at least a surveillance sub to scope shit out in the area. They were up to no good.

Perhaps there’s a link between these guys and this:

https://www.npr.org/2022/09/28/1125525798/what-caused-2-key-natural-gas-pipelines-under-the-baltic-sea-to-rupture

I’m sure someone will investigate any possible connection.

Came back on edit to add that from my distant and untutored perspective, Putin has themes for his international subterfuge. Election interference worked well. There was Brexit, Trump—hey, maybe Santos/Devolder. Infrastructure attacks may be his new flavor. Baltic Sea, now a thwarted attempt in Poland and, hey, who knows about all the substation attacks on the East and West coasts here? I know national security is looking at far right groups for the substation attacks but, without sounding too conspiracy-addled, I wouldn’t be surprised to learn Russian tentacles had reached into home-grown terrorist groups to give them a boost. 🤷?♀️

I don't think it's even a stretch to consider poopy's input in all things anti-American going on in the country and doing the same in other countries. Certainly among the top three considerations with most events in my thinking.

And certainly where they were found, the Polish would know what accent they had as well as we could tell an American/English accent. If the Polish are suspicious, there's good reason, aside from just the basic facts.
