McCarthy constituents furious he's been ignoring their needs as he feeds his own desire for power

There is growing unrest back in his district aimed at House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), with his constituents believing that he is ignoring their needs because he is too caught up in his rise to power.

While McCarthy has spent months building support for his rise to speaker, people back home feel that their pleas for help with water problems in the largely rural district are falling on deaf ears and they are having to appeal to some lawmakers in neighboring districts for help.

As has been previously reported, the California Republican spent months building support for his drive to become House speaker after Democrats lost control of the chamber in the midterms. That was followed by a week spent on 15 ballots before holdouts in his own party fell in line.

As CNN is reporting, back home in California, his district is suffering from a devastating shortage of water that has some folks complaining they have to use gas station bathrooms to take baths. And they are still waiting for help.

Thing is, it's true in my case. Not necessarily the "Congress sucks" part, but my guy is Rep Smith, D-WA. He's top notch.

Congress only really sucks when the rubes elect RW "majorities."

At some point the voters in FL (Rubio), TX (Cruz, Abbott), OH (Vance), KY (McConnell), MT (Zinke), McCarthy's district, must have the finger pointed at THEM!

Dems and present company excepted of course!

Where is the Dem party leadership in those areas?????

Those places are like islands of forgotten exiles in seas of rabid redness. Too many years of big politics' triangulating and calculating has left them adrift. Without a plan of how to drive a wedge into the coalescent slab of Republican factlessness and cluelessness they're perpetually gulping air like fish out of water. If California has problems with "conservatism's" encroachment, imagine Missouri or Kentucky's local Democrat's plight. We're only a short ride from Illinois going Republican, you know. We saw Long Island get sucked further into the madness. That story is its own perpetuity.

The national party's platform is to "win a majority of federal government seats". At the equation's essence, that doesn't require flyover country's participation, I'm afraid. Too much criticality and thus funding lies in maintaining those in their urban core's demographic to GOTV. Plans and schemes to encourage support for what has become the "same old same old" is the party's primary concern.

Democrats are only doing as well as they are because their opponents have been so obviously and publicly flawed. Today's Democratic party shows no concerted effort to remind those isolated faithful huddled in their little enclaves of mutual assurance, feeding off their last faith, that they're the key to Democracy's existence. But they are you know. That's why we should fear Ron DeSantis like ten Covid plagues. Our base is not populous enough to stop him. Many that rejected Trump will not see such a threat in DeSantis. Anyone can fill in the blanks for Election 2024 if the status quo is all we've got.

It's going to require that every Democrat's voice be meaningful if we turn this desperately unholy tide. It's going to require an effort to respect and maintain the faith these people have shown despite their awful losses. The party needs to speak in more ways than through endless, signature-machined, pleas for donations, the people will listen.

They actually expect old Kev to show concern for their needs? Don't they know he's been way too busy doing important stuff like trying to get elected Speaker and carrying out the orders of all the people he promised to obey in return for helping him get elected Speaker?

so excuse me if I seem hard hearted when I regard their wailing and gnashing of teeth.

If they didn't know by November 22 what McCarthy is, it's way too late to learn now. They were dazzled by the prospect of having the Speaker from their district. They thought the gravy train would roll right in.

Surprise, ya dumb half wits. That was never going to happen. You failed to pay attention to what that man really is. You snnozed, you've lost. Deal with it.
