In regards to the Biden investigation, Biden is the President and he could de-classify those documents tomorrow, if he wanted. But, he has decided to leave the investigation to Merrick Garland and the DOJ.
It is strange to me that Merrick Garland would permit a 10-hour search of the Biden home, unless there was a good reason?
At first, one might wonder if Merrick Garland was calling the shots? Or if the cult followers at the FBI were calling the shots?
Is the Biden investigation a pretext to a larger investigation to come?
How big of a battle is this to preserve democracy?
Is Ukraine the final push by the fascists to tear down the democracies of the world?
Is Justice part of the equation?
There are many questions and things going on that we don't know.

(47,014 posts)Quite excellent.
For those of us who like to connect dots and fit puzzle pieces together..
Ukraine is not the final push. It is stage two.
China and Russia have installed their puppets to high office in western democracies.
The puppets are so bold they don't even hide their status. Chaos, division, hatred.
Democracy as a form of government looks foolish, weak, inert.
The next step is regional control. Putin Ukraine, China Taiwan.
Then a march to superpower status. Autocracies the dominant form of world power.
It looks like the US and Europe wanted to help Ukraine. But we have
the very odd situation where they refuse to help Ukraine enough so
Ukraine can take Crimea. Once Ukraine takes Crimea, Putin loses the war.
Retired generals want more help sent to Ukraine. But the US and Europe
hem and haw. Germany refuses tanks to help and stops other countries from
donating equipment.
Has some deal being cut with Russia? Who knows at this point.
And yes of course, how does this all fit into the very odd situation with the DOJ
as you describe.

(86,579 posts)EVERY Department and agency has been infiltrated. They were all over Biden's shit since 2015, while in office there was a whole 4 years of dedicated fishing to pull up ways to fuck Joe constantly for as long as any of them are outside of prison cells.
I have no doubt that this was orchestrated to provide cover for the douchebag society.

(487 posts)Doj should investigate. if not it would give the impression preferential treatment. But this gets back to the thing that has bothered me since Meuller. It should be a public hearing it should not be secret to till the end of it. I know there are tactical reasons for doing a rico type trial. but it allows time for coverup and political maneuvering. if Meuller had not taken so long and had Barr not adjusted the redacted parts the insurrection would not have happened. Here we are two years since (the insurrection) into it with a 5 year timeline to prosecute Trump. Its harmful to the nation to draw it out so long. I remember as a kid the Watergate hearings being on all the time.

(111,089 posts)...since they are very concerned about the documents that Trump may still have.
This investigation of Biden could give the DOJ the legitimacy to search the properties of Trump in the same manner?
Of course, Trump will remain the victim, no matter what they do.

(16,095 posts)it seems that Trump is not really subject to the law.
Biden, on the other hand, appears to not even have the protection of being a sitting president.

Special Counsel Robert Hur, who last week was appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland to lead an investigation into the mishandling of classified documents by Biden, first needs to determine the scope of what hes dealing with. That is, how many documents and of what level of sensitivity are in places they shouldnt be? That question isnt just necessary to determine whether someone committed a crime, but its also crucial for the intelligence communitys task of performing a damage assessment. Thats why its time for Hur to ask for consent to search Bidens Wilmington, Delaware, home. In fact, Biden should make the offer even if Hur doesnt first ask.
Hur and his assigned FBI agents should also seek consent to search the office and related storage space Biden used at the Penn Biden Center in Washington. That request could be trickier because it likely involves a landlord-tenant question of who could authorize the search, but its not insurmountable. Lastly, the special counsel should also request and Biden should consent to a search of any other properties or storage spaces, including his home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, even though there are no reports of documents at other locations......
The smart path for both the special counsel and Biden is clear. For the sake of transparency, national security, prosecutive determinations, institutional credibility and politics, a consent search is the way to go. All we need is a special counsel who will ask and a president who will answer, Yes.
