Well, I am off the never had COVID list.

Have no idea how I got it. Husband is negative. Sore throat (fiercely sore), nagging cough, sleeping a lot.

Just got Paxlovid which was free. And good cough medicine for which I would gladly have paid more than $10.99. If you have never taken Tessalon Perles for cough, they are effective. I wanted to hug the NP's neck when she suggested them, but I stayed far away.

prescribed. This med is safe in doses of 100 mg 3x daily, but never more than 200 mg at a time or more than 600 mg in a single day. It can be highly toxic above those levels (and keep it out of reach of children). Unfortunately, I have seen some serious consequences of overdosing.

Seriously. It can be effective and with paranoia, over the use of any narcotic cough suppressive agents it is seemingly come back in "style" but please be careful and take those maximum doses seriously.

Sorry about your contracting COVID-19. I knock on wood every day, but I did contract RSV a few weeks ago (lab-confirmed). It isn't pleasant but far less concerning for me than COVID>

I spent several years teaching graduate level writing. I responded because your original explanation was not clear.

If I read it as saying that benzonatate was a narcotic (which was being prescribed again over the concern (i.e. in spite of the concern) about narcotics), others will read it that way, as well.

Luckily, I am retired and can rest as much as I need and want.

This is probably the worst sore throat I have had as an adult...I told the NP that when I swallow, it hurts from ear to ear. She seemed familiar with the complaint. But my lungs are clear, not having trouble breathing, it could be so much worse.

If you start to have symptoms...test and find out so you can get going with treatment. Do not wait.

I will say that soup and pudding and tonight mac and cheese go down pretty easily..on a sore throat.

I was beginning to think my husband and I were immune. We had had casual contact with people who got Covid, including our adult son who lives with us. We avoided it until the week before Christmas. Both early 60’s and very mild cases. Hubby had the flu right after Covid, and the flu was worse for him, though it was also mild.
