Can you imagine a country where everyone was fully educated? People might actually become informed voters and demand freedom and justice for all! The idea absolutely terrifies the right.

There are so many it’s hard to keep track, but here’s the newest one.

Public school teachers are turning their students into communists.

I’m not kidding.

That’s what they’re saying on far right blogs, podcasts and TV shows.

Do they even know what communism is? Other than "it's bad." If there were only for profit Christian schools, then they would be happy.

3. Republicans hate anything that serves every citizen the exact same way.

Taxpayer funded quality education for all?? No way, kids of wealthy parents should go to fancy schools and learn religion!

Medicare for all? No way, wealthy folks should have better health care than the masses! And poor folks don’t deserve it at all!

As hard as they try, this is still true.

them a bad name.

7. True and it's been going on a long time

with integration, then bussing and plenty of other issues to get people all riled up and excited. But public schools are ingrained in our culture and most people support them and there's been pushback against the extremism of the right wing nutjobs.
It's a never ending battle.
