https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/florida-rep-greg-steube-hospital-accident-home-rcna66892A U.S. congressman from Florida who was seriously injured in a tree-trimming accident in Sarasota said Saturday he has been discharged from the hospital and is recovering at home.
He added that his office will provide updates next week on how my recovery will impact my return to Washington.
On Thursday a tweet posted to the congressmans official profile said Steube had been knocked approximately 25 feet down off a ladder while cutting tree limbs on his Sarasota property the previous day.

(129,730 posts)but there should be a Stupid Household Accidents Award. Falling off a 25-foot ladder could do you in; he's lucky it wasn't worse.

(129,730 posts)Seems to me like one of those ordinary dumb household accidents, something that might have happened to me if I hadn't wised up about staying off ladders.

(34,748 posts)She said that, by far, the most common reasons people were admitted were to recover from car wrecks and falls off ladders. The numbers of the two were not far apart, either.
I don't stay off of ladders, but I don't go up more than two or three rungs. I'm sure as hell not going up 25 feet on one, let alone more than 3 or 4 feet.

(129,730 posts)I used to go up a 10' ladder to paint or clean gutters, but falling off one of those would be pretty tough on my old ass these days. A couple of rungs up on a stepladder to dust a light fixture is enough for me.
