OH-SEN: U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown hires campaign manager as he gears up for 2024 reelection contest
COLUMBUS, Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown has hired a former communications aide to manage his 2024 reelection campaign, a major formal step toward preparing for whats expected to be one of the countrys most closely watched Senate races.
Rachel Petri, who served as a media spokesperson for Browns successful 2018 reelection campaign, will be Browns campaign manager for next years race, Brown announced. Petri most recently worked as deputy campaign manager for U.S. Sen. Raphael Warnocks hotly contested reelection campaign in Georgia last year.
Petri also previously worked in Browns official Senate office, and is a St. Clairsville native and Miami University alum.
Rachel is a daughter of eastern Ohio who understands the Dignity of Work and knows what it takes to win tough races, including in Ohio, Brown said in a statement. Rachel has spent her entire career fighting for working families and this race will be no different. Connie and I are confident that under Rachels leadership well show voters were on their side and win next November.
Brown is a top political target for Republicans in 2024 as they look to re-take control of the U.S. Senate, where Democrats hold a slim majority. Brown is one of three Democratic senators, along with West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin and Montana Sen. John Tester, representing states that Trump won. Brown is Ohios most prominent elected Democrat and one of the few remaining ones as the state has become reliably Republican in recent years.
