snip-"MEMPHIS, Tenn — The Shelby County District Attorney's office said the release of video footage of the arrest of Tyre Nichols, which led to five Memphis Police officers being fired after Nichols died in the hospital, could come "this week or next."

Relatives of Tyre Nichols met with city officials Monday morning to view video footage of the Jan. 7 arrest, according to attorney Ben Crump, who is representing the family."

snip-Attorney Antonio Romanucci said Nichols was "defenseless" and a "human piñata" for police officers, and said Nichols was beaten for three minutes. "It was unabashed, nonstop beating. That is what is going to show up in that video," said Romanucci.

He called the beating "savage." He said the officers were in unmarked cars, and wanted to know why they are conducting traffic stops. "Let's call this what it is; this is a racist traffic stop... These police officers knew it in their mind they could get away with this."

..... the photo of his face on the hospital bed looked like a 250 lb. chubby man. He was all swelled and swollen up from having been beaten to his death.

Poor guy,... all due to a traffic stop.

This was pure tribalism. Tyler wasn’t a cop and he pissed them off.

This was an expression of the absolute power of life and death cops on the streets have. Absolute power is absolutely corrupting.

All cops, because of one insane Supreme Court ruling after another, have a license to kill. Just like James Bond.

I’ve lost count of the videos I’ve seen where a group of pissed off cops lose their shit and beat their prey to death.

That’s very much how they view it. The citizens are prey and they’re the wolves.

I read an article last week that gave me some small measure of hope that we as a country might be able to deal with this. But it’s not from legislation or some sort of reform movement.

What’s going on is the insurance companies are getting sick and tired of paying these claims.

There have already been a number of towns that had a very big policing problem that either had their insurance canceled or they have been forced to make substantial changes in their policing methodology.

To fix this there has to be an absolute requirement that the cops de-escalate where at all possible. The legal system does not force this on them now and also gives them qualified immunity against chargers when they cross the line.
