"SNIP......
The National Republican Senatorial Committee is portraying Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) as a Davos-trekking elitist in a direct mail and digital ad campaign directed at West Virginia voters, Axios reports.
The NRSCs early anti-Manchin messaging is part of a pressure campaign designed to dissuade him from seeking a third term. Manchin is the only Democrat who can realistically hold a Senate seat in one of the most conservative states in the country.
Insider: Manchin says he hasnt ruled out a presidential bid in 2024.

(19,922 posts)If a Republican sat in his seat the last two years, instead of record breaking judicial confirmations, we would have none.
None of Bidens historic accomplishments would have been possible.
What a dumb post.
Just A Box Of Rain
(5,104 posts)Like him (or don't) Joe Manchin has been a boon for the Democratic Party vs any imaginable alternative from contemporary W. Virginia.

(29,083 posts)got zero republican votes but all 50 Democrats. Joe Manchin was one of them. I can't stand the man, but a republican would be way different. Of course Kamala made 51.
Maybe, just maybe, if George Washington came back and ran as a Democrat in WV he could be elected, but I doubt it.
Get Me Outta Here
(97 posts)I'll rule that shit out for you right here/right now, Senator. Of course, it's probably just a grift to stuff his piggy bank (aka, leadership pac) before exiting for the really big money.

(19,922 posts)If we are to pull off an inside straight and keep the Senate, it cant be done without Manchin.

(7,089 posts)could win West Virginia. The messaging somehow gets skewed and people become convinced that they must depend on corporate greed for low wage jobs just to keep going. None of the rich elitists who have been elected to the senate or governorship in West Virginia have lifted a finger to make things better, including the governor, or the GOP senator, Moore-Capito.

(10,372 posts)Republicans are pressuring Manchin to retire, Republicans are pressuring Sinema to caucus with them or else they will probably run a Republican challenger against her, etc.
I would like to think that after this, their bipartisan mindset would make them go, "hmm..." and rethink how much their "Republican colleagues" really give a damn about them or bipartisan efforts, but I'm guessing not!
