(16,383 posts)Somethings amiss and unfortunately it helps TFG look innocent by comparison.

(3,317 posts)Something is amiss, it kinda smells of you had 1 job. Archives has one job, DOJ has 1 job, IRS has 1 job, etc.
It smells a bit of someone at Archives, covering hiney,

(14,367 posts)They need to clear everything before items are relocated by these high level elected officials.

(5,722 posts)many needing to be constantly accessible to do their jobs wherever they are. Andy McCabe talked bout this on a podcast recently. Theyre managed by others, keeping them at the ready, when working at home, abroad, etc. He explained how easy this is to happen, how common it is, and while there needs to be a mechanism (maybe 3rd party routine sweeps after leaving office?), the only obviously nefarious one so far is tfg.

(11,878 posts)They show pictures of a classified document folder 📁 to all people who have access to classified documents.
This includes all staff members with clearance not just the elected officials.
Classified means NO takey home with you. Leave it where you found it. Seems simple to me.

(58,785 posts)tRump and company have a grudge and an interest in this subject. Other power factions on the right also do.

(2,508 posts)Has claimed said documents were planted.
The whole accusation sounds so Qult-like.
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)proof to offer in support, it would be a mistake to make accusations or even hint at it as an excuse. It'd backfire terribly.
That said, I'm not exactly an irrational conspiracist, and it wouldn't exactly require Jewish space lasers to carry out. There really are a lot of bad people more than ruthless enough to plant documents to lessen that threat to tRump. Brett Kavanaugh spent years as one of the right's dirty operatives; now they're empowered to put him on full view on the Supreme Court. It'd be doable, and the stakes are enormous, which is reason to hang a question on it while investigation continues.

(11,767 posts)Certainly, the tracking of classified documents, or as Jeremy Scahill said, the "over classification" of documents, needs to be addressed. I will say this however, even for Cheney and Pence. It isn't the possession of the documents that is the issue, since it is so apparently common. It is how you store them and what you do when they surface.
Once again, if idiot Trump would have just given the goddamned documents back in a timely manner, NONE of this would be an issue. It is an issue because Trump had the documents where people could access them, he refused to return them when asked, he lied about them, he got other people to lie about them on the record, and he is STILL trying to fight the situation. I am sure that most other halfway serious politicians find them, inform the proper authorities, then do what they need to do to correct the situation. I am even willing to extend that benefit of the doubt to Pence and Cheney.
Trump is simply corrupt, to his core. The message and moral for politics and our Democracy is that the Republican Party and Conservative movement put him forth as a candidate KNOWING how corrupt he was.

(55,080 posts)Was just looking for it, but can't locate it.
It talked about how once the originator places a classification on information that everytime even a portion of it is mentioned that results in more classifications, and so on and so on. You have a memo go out with classified info to 10 people and say they comment on one sentence, that memo is classified and then everyone who sees that memo and makes a comment, more classified docs.... Rinse and repeat. There's gotta be a better way to handle the info.
I'm sure I'm not explaining it very well, but it made sense to me....lol

even if he didn't he still purposely refused to return them.
The Pig's attempted theft put everyone on notice and it has caused everyone to start prudent searches.
So far the Pig is the only one obstructing and trying to steal them.

(24,207 posts)This sets it up like this, Trump is getting indicted for his classified document theft and the way he obstructed justice around it. Stock up on popcorn because it's going to be hilarious when he whines and moans on how it was the same thing as Pence and Biden, why aren't they charged.
On Pence and Biden, probably the same exact thing happened, they would get memos at home and there was no process in place to file them properly or secure them. Neither Pence nor Biden did a single thing wrong. It's a far cry from Trump who literally packed up dozens of boxes of classified documents and took them to Mar a Lago with him and then refused to hand them over. He's getting charged, Biden and Pence aren't, because it's totally different situation.

(9,147 posts)is going to start handing over documents. All this is going to do is give cover to trump that everyone does it. I know It's not the same but when did that matter. THIS is what foot dragging by "law enforcement" gets you. trump should have been charged a long time ago for several crimes but it just never seems to be the right time. Such ineptitude and incompetence by the DOJ in my mind. Meanwhile traitors are running Congress the FBI and the courts.

I predict that the popular media pivot on a dime now, and suddenly remember that there are different levels of classification of information, and that the documents Pence has aren't all that important and maybe shouldn't have been classified in the first place.
