I can't stop laughing. the news about Pence is really, really good news.

It gets Biden off the hook politically. Republicans can't attack Biden like they have been. MSNBC just showed an interview with Pence talking about Biden's documents. He is now wishing he did not do that interview now. It was bad.

When I was in the military, classified documents were handled according to a specific protocol. I would never have been able to leave a building with them, or even my desk area.

I find this horrifying, no matter who has done it. Nothing funny or good news about it, imo.

I couldn’t possibly have ventured an opinion, nor would I now, as to whether it “should “ have been classified.

Most of it had to do with US installations overseas, and I was serving during the Cold War, so I assume they made classification decisions carefully.

Even now, that’s the most I’d care to say about it.

because what caused the whole 45 situation to balloon was the fact that instead of voluntarily handing over stuff that NARA had spent nearly a year asking them for, NARA had to go to DOJ to obtain a search warrant and seizure of the documents.

There was no "search warrant" nor "seizure" in the case of Biden nor (as we know so far) the case of Pence.

... that the government has a ton of classified documents, and they're always getting misplaced, almost always by accident.

I'm even willing to believe that most of the classified documents at Mar-a-Lago got there by accident. It was Trump's refusal to return them that is the problem.

But you know who got the most unfair treatment for this? Hillary Clinton. She didn't even have any documents marked classified in her email, and that somehow became this year-long saga at the hands of the media and FBI. And she actually had a job at the time! Now it turns out anyone and everyone had actual classified documents in unsecured places after they left the government.

(By the way, I also think that the government classifies way too many things. I remember that one of the classified tidbits in Clinton's email was the time of day she was going to talk to a foreign official.)
