It has almost been a year since Russia launched their special military operation on Ukraine. The situation could escalate at any given point, but according to Russian state TV, it could happen sooner than expected.
A big war by the end of winter
During a broadcast on Russian state TV, Margarita Simonyan, one of the hosts and editor-in-chief of the state-sponsored RT talks about the war escalating.
In a video that has since gone viral on Twitter, she talks about Vladimir Putins demands not being met and that this could lead to a big war which will likely take place by the end of winter.
This can only end with a Caribbean Crisis 2.0

(7,434 posts)From Russian propaganda, the inference is that Russia is moving head-long into initiating a nuclear war. The only other option is if UKR and NATO relent and allow Russia to conquer UKR, which isn't going to happen. We all know this. The propaganda channel is also saying that Putin is intent on extorting victory from UKR by threatening nukes. "Back off, let us overrun your country, and we won't nuke you and other nations.
That's a hell of a proposal. The problem with it is that it's all a bluff. The fact is, and Putin knows this, Russia's territorial integrity is not being challenged, and his nuclear stockpile is meant for defensive purposes only. It always has been. Nukes as offensive weaponry is untenable and suicidal. That's why it won't happen. The Kremlin isn't suicidal, even though Putin might be.
Likely within a half year, UKR will be capable of targeting supply lines and stockpiles INSIDE Russia, and to expedite an end to war, they will probably use their capabilities. If UKR prepares adequately, they can warn Russian civilians to distance themselves from the arteries of war inside Russia in anticipation of targets being shelled. They should also continue to tell Russian civilians to get out of Crimea for the same reasons. Give them time to evacuate. It likely won't give the Russian military any advantage, since Russian territory is already heavily surveilled and any troop or equipment movements will easily be detected. That's my amateur opinion.

(6,559 posts)having destroyed 126 of the 18 HIMARS systems we sent there. The same ones who claimed to have destroyed 4 Bradleys in one day, even though they haven't been delivered yet. They are in no position to wage a wider war, and they are well aware of it. This BS is for Russian consumption and buy-in only.

(1,562 posts)We've been bashed about the ears with that threat for a year now. It seems team Vlad is crying wolf. And it ususally comes after Europe/The West decides to give Ukraine more of what Ukraine asks for.
This time it's the news of US captiulation to Germany to send US heavy tanks to Ukraine thus enabling Germany to release it's European customers to export some of their Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine.
Ukraine needs a couple hundred more tanks for the late winter offensive that is shaping up, including what looks to be
a combined arms offensive on Kyiv coming out of Belarus through the Pripyat marshes
