(2,580 posts)but docs from VP Biden's days would have probably exceeded the criminal statutes of limitation. Not so much for Mike Pence?
Have I got that right?

Anyone who has ever worked in a job which involved massive amounts of paper can attest to the near-impossibility of keeping it all corraled. Especially given the extremely tight time frame with which the VP and Pres. have to clear out of their homes/offices. And - since they are human - they probably want to relax for a while before diving into unpacking all of the no-longer-needed stuff from their terms. I retired in April - with all the time in the world to move - and still have boxes in the garage wtih stuff in them. I would not be at all surprised to find things in there that don't belong. If I find stuff that isn't mine, which is of use to anyone, I'll return it and that will be the end of it.
The difference with Trump is that he deliberately took the documents, then claimed they were his, refused several requests to return things he was known to have (like the letter from Kim Jong Un), had his lawyers certify everything was returned, etc.
And Trump's toddler-like handling of his transition from office is the only reason the other stuff being found was even news-worthy.
