A familiar ring
Our local newspaper ran an article about a jail inmate with a handmade weapon hidden under his mattress. A random search found a garrote fashioned from two pieces of pencil and string pulled from the mattress. He claimed that it wasn’t a weapon, that he’d actually made it to serve as a bookmark for his Bible. And my first thought was “Well, doesn’t that just sound like every Republican defense of their actions in Congress.”
