it is one of Biden's only speaking flaws...
I love the guy, I have for a long time... but this really gets on my nerves.
If he is running again, I want him to work with a communication coach to eliminate this sort of "throw away" side comment in his speaking engagements.
Unless he is really telling a joke and follows it with a fact.

(131,243 posts)It's pretty unobtrusive; I think everyone who notices it understands it to be just a phrase he uses for emphasis. At least he doesn't say "like" all the time.

(2,493 posts)the person we needed to take down donny. But I'm worried about him running against a young, articulate, energetic repub. it'll be a pretty stark comparison on the stage.
This guy votes for whomever has the "D" behind their name regardless, but....just saying.

(131,243 posts)His voice is nasal and his style is boring. He looks like, and has all the charisma of, a potato.
A HERETIC I AM
(24,903 posts)Ron DeathSentence is a one trick pony.
Once the entirety of the American electorate hears him speak a few times, theyll realize how much of a giant horses ass he is.

(1,609 posts)I suppose some would like a more polished speaker. There are probably just as many who like his authenticity. I think Biden not seeming like a perfect vocabulary liberal elite was part of the reason why he won rust belt states. I agree with you about it sounding repetitive and some could be annoyed by it. As Gruenemann said in a post on this thread, "maybe it's a coping mechanism he uses to deal with his stutter."

(3,717 posts)that is, not born with a silver spoon in his mouth, had to overcome difficulties (a stutter is...uh...no joke), worked hard, family man, worked to get where he is now.
He also says what is on his mind and is well informed.
His verbal tics don't bother me.

(2,601 posts)Doesnt in any way diminish my admiration for Biden, but I wish he would lose this verbal tic.
