The same is likely true of Barbara Lee, who appears to be running as well. Just A Box Of Rain Jan 2023 #4

We need her in Congress.

She will still have a great future.

To lose a seat (Katie Porters seat is a toss-up)

Lee's seat could not be "safer," and Schiff has a safe district as well.

Porter's district, CA-47, is going to be a tough hold. Former Democratic House Rep. Harley Rouda and CA State Sen. Dave Min (backed by Porter) are likely to square off for the Democrats.

Every freshman class brings valuable new talent and potential great leaders of the future, but that requires openings to fill.

And Schiff and Porter won't exactly be dying, they'll both remain dynamic political figures whether they remained in elective politics or not. Porter has a very impressive background in the law and so far was able to be a far more effective force outside congress; her ambitions, and certainly her abilities, might take her to high appointed office, including the judiciary.
